Metalcraft introduces expanded memory RFID Windshield Tag and labels

RFID World booth #431 showcases new inlays from KSW, Alien and Avery Dennison

MASON CITY, IOWA (Sept. 5, 2008) – Metalcraft today announced availability of an expanded memory RFID Windsheild Tag and four other expanded memory RFID labels. The RFID products incorporating 512-bit, passive, Gen 2 inlays from KSW, Alien, and Avery Dennison will be on display at RFID World booth 431 in Las Vegas next week.

“Metalcraft’s booth at RFID World is the place to see new, higher-memory inlays converted into rugged, high-value RFID labels,” said Metalcraft president Steve Doerfler. “We’re looking forward to discussing applications of these RFID labels with integrators and end users at RFID World.”

Metalcraft’s RFID Windshield Tag now offers 512-bit memory in a 4-inch by 1-inch adhesive label engineered to provide a read range over 18 feet using a passive KSW Windshield RFID inlay which does not require a foam standoff like other windshield tag designs. Metalcraft uses a windshield-compatible adhesive protects against the harmful UV rays.

All expanded memory products use Metalcraft’s standardized constructions which encapsulate the inlay between thin layers of polypropylene, adding a bar code and human readable information to one side and adhesive to the other. This encapsulation process protects the inlay and reduces the effects of electrostatic discharge.

Applications for the expanded memory include access control, asset tracking and much more. The additional memory makes more data available at the read point and can provide layered access control. Additionally, the products allow data to be written to the tag, allowing events like rental returns, asset maintenance or repair to be recorded directly to the asset’s tag.

“Metalcraft’s customers are always finding new ways to apply RFID technology,” said Doerfler. “Metalcraft remains focused on delivering high-value RFID products to meet these evolving needs.”
