Metalcraft introduces UID Cable Labels

Durable, customizable product meets compliance challenge

MASON CITY, IOWA (March 6, 2009) – Metalcraft today announced availability of customizable UID Cable Labels designed to address the difficulty of marking wires and cables for UID compliance among U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) contractors.

UID is a DoD mandate that requires a Unique Item Identifier (UII) to track items throughout their lifecycle – a challenge given the applications and environments of military assets.

Metalcraft’s UID Cable Labels are engineered to last the service life of the wire, cable, hose or similar item being identified. The labels are available in standard and custom sizes and feature digital, subsurface printing to ensure readability as well as protection against chemicals and abrasion.

Polypropylene construction allows the UID Cable Label to conform to a tight radius without unwinding, and the thick adhesive provides excellent grip to plastic and uneven surfaces. The labels can withstand temperatures as high as 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Metalcraft has steadily expanded its products and services for Defense suppliers, offering five UID product families, two expedited ordering services and on-staff UID specialists with a detailed understanding of the DoD’s requirements.

“Metalcraft makes UID compliance easy and useful,” said Doerfler. “Metalcraft helps DoD suppliers improve inventory management and asset tracking to realize a return on their investment in compliance.”

Orders are shipped within eight days of proof approval. Prices vary by quantity. Visit http://www.idplate.com or call 800-437-5283 for more information on Metalcraft RFID labels or to discuss RFID challenges requiring custom solutions.
