2011 Des Moines Home & Garden Show Offers Something for Everyone

DES MOINES, Iowa (Jan. 31 2011) – The Des Moines Home & Garden Show, which takes place at Iowa Events Center Feb. 10-13, 2011, is “The Big One!” – a “must see” Iowa tradition that combines relevant, experts and hundreds of creative and trend-setting ideas for your home, garden and lifestyle.

Show Features
o Learn from the experts at the Lifestyle Theater. Speakers include local and national experts like HGTV’s Chip Wade. Christopher Straub of Project Runway fame will also be bringing a fun, fashionable twist to the Lifestyle Theater.

o The 96-member Southeast Polk Pep Band will kick off the show on Thursday at 10 a.m.

o Your favorite TV and radio personalities are once again ready for this year’s Celebrity Rooms – but this year brings a new twist. Local media personalities have been matched with the area’s top landscapers to create spectacular Outdoor Rooms. Vote for a favorite and the winning celebrity will receive $500 to donate to a favorite charity.

o Take a stroll through the exquisite Feature Gardens, showcasing themes like Backyard BBQ and Party Garden.

o From contemporary to traditional, Hal Davis of Room Service Distinctive Designs will let you experience it all in the new Ty Rooms: One Room, Three Ways. By changing the fabrics, colors and accessories, Davis will give each room a different look and feel using Ty Pennington Style products and furniture from local retailers.

o Pay a visit to the new Garden Store sponsored by Loki’s Garden. Located in the upper entrances of Hy-Vee Hall and Vets Auditorium and, you’ll find an array of plants and gardening tools to get a jumpstart on your spring planting. The first 100 visitors each day will receive a free scented geranium.

o Don’t miss the New Product Showcase which will feature this year’s newest products by Croell Concrete Products, Ty Styles and others.

o Need more tips on keeping your home environmentally friendly? Find them in the Green Zone sponsored by Metro Waste Authority, where local experts will show you how to turn your home into an energy-efficient and eco-friendly dwelling.

o Sample and purchase Iowa wines at the Wine Village and stock up on Iowa-made goods at the All-Iowa Store, sponsored by Iowa Arboretum.

Thursday Feb. 10 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday Feb. 11 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday Feb. 12 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday Feb. 13 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission
Admission is $10 for adults ($8 online) and $4 for children ages 7-12. Children six and under are admitted free. Tickets are available for purchase online or at box offices at Hy-Vee Hall.
