Situation: Lincoln, Neb.-based Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services selected Hanser & Associates through a competitive process in 2005 to create a statewide PR campaign for the Nebraska Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities.
Strategy & tactics: The goal of the three-year campaign: communicate the value and contributions that people with developmental disabilities bring to their communities via Nebraska news media. Hanser & Associates formulated a plan and implemented a statewide media relations campaign.
Results: The firm secured 130 news story placements, which included television and print and online stories about individuals with developmental disabilities and guest columns which increased disability awareness. These placements across Nebraska generated more than 2.5 million impressions. Additionally, we produced a 30-second public service announcement on disability awareness that was distributed to television stations statewide.
