Ronald C. Hanser, APR

President and Principal

Ron, a public relations professional since 1972, is an international leader in the profession.

He co-founded Hanser & Associates in 1996 and leads the firm’s overall management, setting the vision for services to clients, strategic counseling and new business development.

Prior to co-founding the firm, Ron was for 25 years a senior corporate executive responsible for PR, marketing, government relations and investor relations. He headed these functions at international, national and regional companies, including The Principal Financial Group, Farm Credit System, National Pork Producers Council and UnityPoint Health (formerly Iowa Health System).

Ron's media relations experience includes work with national and international news media, including Bloomberg Businessweek, Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and every national television network in the USA. His career has also included creation of worldwide PR, branding and investor relations programs for public and private corporations; global product launches; and managing nationwide crisis communication related to litigation, product recalls, labor strikes, CEO resignations and protest demonstrations.

In addition to his responsibilities at Hanser & Associates, Ron is serving on the Executive Committee of the board of directors of New York, NY-based Council of Public Relations Firms, the trade association of the world’s top 100 PR firms. He was also global Chairman 2006-2009 of Pinnacle Worldwide, an international corporation of independent PR firms.

Ron has been published and quoted worldwide on PR industry topics, business communications and best practices; he speaks frequently at national and regional conferences.

He is member of Public Relations Society of America and APR accredited by PRSA.

Ron is a graduate of Kansas State University with a B.S. in Journalism.

Also of benefit to the firm's clients, Ron is a well-connected policy-maker and leader of business groups. He is a former member of the board of directors of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, central Iowa’s economic development organization, and past Chair of the Partnership’s Communications Advisory Council. He has served on the boards of more than a dozen other organizations; and is a member of National Association of Corporate Directors.

Ron’s hobbies include time with family, reading, travel, photography and fly fishing.
